Admission Statement

Admission to AISL is open to students of any race, religion, sexual orientation, ethnicity or academic level. We will support anyone who can benefit from the educational services currently provided by AISL’s programmes. The admission policy is guided by AISL’s promise, which is to follow each child’s path to a strong academic, physical, and social foundation.

Admission is on a rolling basis throughout the year. As our school year ends in June, generally, applications received after February will be considered for the following school year. Admissions is open only to grades where space is available. Where space is not available, students will be waitlisted, and contacted when space is available. In cases where students are admitted mid-year (in January) or are coming from a different school calendar, the potential for grade retention will be discussed.

Admissions & Screening Process:

  1. Application: Completed application with all of the required supporting documentation, including, but not limited to previous school academic records, copies of passport, and immunization records. Submission of application fee.
  2. Financial Clearance: Proof that your financial obligations have been met at your child’s previous school.
  3. Assessment: We conduct a brief baseline assessment at school to help us understand the child’s strengths, and any areas where additional support might be needed to help us prepare for their arrival in advance and to inform grade level placement. Students should demonstrate the capability to maintain progress in an international programme independently, or with available support services as appropriate within AISL’s current educational capacity. Proficiency or having the ability to achieve proficiency (as determined by school-administered testing) in the English language is also a criteria.
  4. Meeting: We are a small caring community, and meeting with families in the beginning is essential for a strong partnership.

Early Childhood Admission: We admit toilet trained students who are  3 years old (by October 1st) for our Preschool program; 4 years old  (by October 1st) for our PreKindergarten program; and 5 years old (by October 1st) for our Kindergarten program.

Learning Support:

Given the skill level of our educators, and Learning Support teacher,  we are able to accommodate  a number of student learning profiles, including English language support, however there may be times where our current capacity does not meet the specific needs that have been recommended by a medical professional that a child may require to be successful in our school environment. If that is the case, we will recommend, or help families to find that support within the wider community, or different setting, or get the support required if it is feasible for us to do so.
